The Father's Day "About" Update

I decided to take rest from being the sole content creator for the site and hand the reigns over to Gracie. She's the AZ DIY Girl , after all. She brought me a card she'd created for Fathers Day, in which she'd answered some interview questions from her daycare teacher, about yours truly. Maybe my "About" page is a little lacking, so I'll let her fill you in on some more details here.

First up, the drawing. Aside from the fact that she missed my gigantic head, she captured the tool-wielding maniac that you all know.

The Interview

I'll offer a translation because I speak fluent 6 year old.

What is your Dad's Name?:

John

Yep. Nailed it!

What does he look like?

wears glasses, black hair

Pretty much sums it up right? Bless her for that "black hair" thing - "Salt and Pepper" isn't one of the colors they teach in first grade, so we'll call it good.

What does he like to eat best?

Meatloaf

Doesn't everyone? Well, except Commies, Baby-Seal-Clubbing jerks, and other shifty-eyed sorts, of course. (Vegetarians don't count, because we all know they are secretly smuggling meatloaf to consume it behind the garage, in the dark,.. like animals)

What do you like to do best with him?

Work

By "Work", she means Daddy works on a project, while she takes pains to remove every sorted screw, nut, and nail from where it is stored to build a scaled down hardware rendition of the Battle of Gettysburg across every surface of the floor before leaving it to go inside for cartoons and popsicles. Other variations of "work" include stabbing Styrofoam packaging with screwdrivers to create static charged snowstorms, creating Easter Egg hunts with tools, and playing sweetly with sawdust,... until I turn my back, and then introducing water, or dish soap to the fun.

"Why can't I come up there Daddy?"

Still, I wouldn't have it any other way. She did pack my tool bag for this attic work after all.

What does he like to do with your Mom?

eat with her

True. But I still won't eat green eggs an ham with her Gracie. I would not, could not in a box. I could not, would not, with a fox. I will not eat them with a mouse. I will not eat them in a house. I will not eat them here or there. I will not eat them anywhere. I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

What do you love most about him?

He is nice, and he is my parent.

Helping Daddy "Work" on some landscaping.

I hope all you fellow Dads out there had a great Father's Day! I think most of us got our love of projects and tools from our Dads.

I'm sure I was "helping".  I just wish mine wasn't 3,000 miles away.

Update 2016: I wish he was still with us. I miss him terribly. Rest in peace Dad. Read: Life and loss
